What ATS platforms can’t do
PageUp** and Springboard manage the funnel. They don’t sit in the interview.
PageUp, Springboard, and Ascender are capable applicant tracking systems, well-suited to managing the recruitment workflow from advertising to offer. Their limitation is not poor design, it is different design purpose.
ATS platforms generally cannot transcribe the interview in real time, produce a structured record of questions asked and responses given, support a scribe workflow separate from assessors, store a complete audio or transcript alongside scoring, or generate the documentation required for an MPC review or FOI response in a single coherent record.
These are not failures, they reflect the original purpose of ATS platforms: manage applicant flow, not document interview proceedings. In private sector recruitment, the gap is inconsequential. In Government recruitment, it is significant.
