How to ensure quality scribing

The selection report is only as good as the record behind it.

Scribing is not note-taking. It is the contemporaneous evidence that supports the panel’s assessment, and under the MPC’s new review model, it is visible to the reviewer.

Quality scribing captures the candidate’s actual words against each work-related quality being assessed, not the scribe’s paraphrase. It records the panel’s reasoning at deliberation, not just the conclusion. It timestamps interviews, names the panel, and flags any adjustments or interruptions.

Poor scribing produces selection reports that read like opinions. Good scribing produces reports that read like evidence. The difference shows up fast on review.

If scribing is outsourced or tool-assisted, the panel remains accountable for the record’s accuracy. Review it before signing.

Require contemporaneous, quality-controlled transcripts for every interview, and verify them before the selection report is finalised.
