What the Directions require of your interview record

Scores without notes don’t prove merit.

Each principle in the Directions creates a specific documentary obligation. Equivalent opportunity requires evidence that the same questions, the same time, and the same conditions applied to all candidates. Competitive assessment requires a record of each candidate’s performance sufficient to support genuine comparison. Work-related qualities require notes that link candidate responses to specific qualities, not just a score or conclusion.

A score of 3/5 for “stakeholder engagement” without supporting notes is difficult to defend as a work-related assessment. The documentary record is not a compliance formality, it is the evidence that the legal requirements were met.

Without that evidence, an Agency asserting compliance has no way to demonstrate it on review.

Review your last five selection reports. For each score given, is there a note that evidences the work-related quality? If not, fix the template.
